Inspect the entire assembly
Water may soak the gypsum, insulation, trim and framing differently. Moisture readings and inspection help define the affected area. A wall can look normal on the painted side while moisture remains behind it.
When removal may be needed
A damaged or unsalvageable panel, wet insulation, trapped moisture or contamination may call for controlled removal. The cut should reflect the documented conditions, not an automatic height on every job. The team should protect nearby spaces as the scope requires.
Plan the repair after mitigation
